Since I took my knitting class last week, I have mastered one stitch and finished a blue scarf. Today I gave it to my mother. I haven’t given my mother something that I’ve made since elementary school. She loved it. Of course, it also looks fabulous on her.

The science of kindness: When we focus on helping others, it can take our minds off our own problems and provide a sense of perspective. This shift leads to reduced stress levels and improved mental health. It’s a wonderful paradox – by giving of ourselves, we gain peace of mind. Cost: This one exceeded $10 but I’m sure I could figure out how to knit a scarf for under $10
