Day 89 of a year of Kindness

My friend, Amy, invited me to a local brewery that was hosting a pottery class. My daughter and her roommate also joined us. We spent a couple of hours painting mugs, and sharing brushes and paint colors. We sat at a table of six and met the other two women. Surprisingly, Amy realized that she had gone to high school with one of them. Amy’s high school friend said that she uses pottery and other creative outlets to ease her anxiety. Painting pottery - or any creative project - is a kind thing to do for yourself because it allows you to tune out the world and focus on making something special. Plus, it's fun.

Science of kindness: Research reveals that creativity has many mental health benefits. One of the most significant benefits is that it takes you out of your mind chatter and directs your focus on the present. It reduces stress, improves your mood, increases self-awareness, enhances self-esteem, and offers you a sense of accomplishment. Practicing creativity is a wellness exercise, similar to having a healthy diet or steady workout routine. #kindnessisfree #kindness #kindnessiscontagious #creativityiskindness #towerhillbrewing
