Day 88 of a year of Kindness

I had an unfortunate experience in a HomeGoods store today. Two men were sitting in the furniture section talking very loudly about politics. It really bothered me. Their language was offensive, and kids were milling about. It’s like we allow hate to scream as loudly as it wants no matter when or where. On the other hand, we’re also taught not to share our kindnesses, because it appears to be bragging. We should not be hoarding our kindnesses. So, I left the store, came home and bought a Be Kind and Love Always Wins yard sign. It doesn’t provide the same energy as the men in the store but it made me feel better. It also reminded me of the quote that my friend, Alan Williams, shared the other day by Mahatma Gandhi: “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it - always.”

Science of kindness: Research shows that kindness is contagious. When we see someone being kind, we are more likely to pay it forward and engage in kind acts ourselves. That’s why it’s also a form of rebellion - you are fighting to create a ripple effect that benefits everyone. Love and kindness can quiet hate. #kindness #kindnessmatters #kindnessiscontagious #lovebeatshate #loveislove #ghandi
