Day 84 of a year of Kindness

Today a kindness was given to me. I had breakfast with three wonderful women. One of them, Aline, in her 80s, recounted an evening when she went to a play with my friend Carolyn (also at breakfast). The play made Carolyn cry, so Aline handed her a handkerchief to wipe her tears. Carolyn was surprised and said, “You still carry these?” We laughed over that story and then Aline pulled out three from her purse and gave one to each of us. You never know when you will need a lovely embroidered handkerchief to wipe away your tears.

Science of kindness: My own research reveals that having a handkerchief at the ready for someone’s tears is kind and also kind of charming. Small acts of kindness can have a big impact on someone's day - like mine. It will be in my purse in case anyone needs it. #kindness #kindnessiscontagious @10kindnessclub #kindnessisfree
