Day 71 of a year of Kindness

My foot has been hurting for a while. It wasn’t until I started limping that I made a doctor’s appointment. It’s the perfect analogy to my life. My foot needed extra care but I waited until it really hurt to pay attention. I have to acknowledge and practice self-compassion for all of the pains making me limp physically and emotionally. In order to fill up my own cup, I’m putting on my oxygen mask.

Science of kindness: Research shows that life isn’t easy but self-compassion makes it easier to recover from setbacks. Self-compassionate people recognize when they are suffering and are kind to themselves at these times. Being kind to yourself reduces anxiety and related depression.Self-kindness means being kind to yourself and shutting down the internal critic. It allows you to remember that everyone struggles and that feeling sad, worried or upset is part of being human. Mindfulness means noticing how you feel without judging yourself. #kindness #kindnessiscontagious @10kindnessclub @kindnessisfree #selfcompassion #selfkindness
