Day 47 of a year of Kindness
For self-compassion Sunday, I read a self-help book. It was cold and rainy and the perfect day to tackle “Let Them” by Mel Robbins. Reading is one of my favorite ways to be kind to myself. This passage resonated with me about self-compassion: “You’ve learned that other people can be one of the greatest sources of happiness, better health, support, love, and connection. You deserve all of that and more. You deserve relationships that elevate you, that nourish your soul, and that reflect the love and respect you have for yourself. But here’s the key: The foundation of these incredible relationships lies in how you treat yourself.”
Science of kindness: Dr. Kristin Neff, a leading expert in self-compassion, studies the impact of being kind to yourself. Studies reveal that when people apply self-compassion they are more emotionally resilient, have better relationships with themselves and others and live a more peaceful life overall. The best way to start, she advises, is to practice being a good friend to yourself.#kindnessmatters #kindness #kindnessiscontagious @10kindnessclub #melrobbins
