Day 57 of a year of Kindness
Today is National Carpe Diem Day. Carpe Diem, ‘seize the day,’ is a Latin phrase that encourages people to focus on the present moment instead of worrying about the past or the future. I realized I had 45 minutes between a business presentation and a Zoom when the sun was still shining. My mother has been homebound a lot this New England winter and I suggested we ‘seize the day’ and put our toes into the ocean. At first, my 86-year-old mother wasn’t sure she wanted to seize the day. But the beach has always been a happy place for us so she agreed to step into the sun - and the ocean. These days are so precious. Carpe Diem!
Science of kindness: Research shows that it is very kind to our mental health to ‘seize the day’ or be anchored in the present. We’re less likely to be depressed ruminating on the past or worrying about the future. Staying in the moment offers a mental pause and provides a sense of calm and clarity, helping us navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience. hashtag#kindnessmatters hashtag#kindness hashtag#kindnessiscontagious @10kindnessclub hashtag#beachlife hashtag#sunandsand hashtag#beachfun
