Day 53 of a year of KindnessI got a wool hat. I went shopping with friends and didn’t plan on buying anything. Instead, I modeled a hat and offered opinions on outfits. We also had fun talking to Eugenie, the store’s owner. When my friend Julie finished shopping she wanted to buy the hat for me. Eugenie saw her do that kindness and offered to split the cost of the hat. I was so touched and thanked them both. What followed was a fantastic conversation about kindness and Eugenie’s choice to focus on the good in the world instead of the bad. She also gives spontaneous discounts - like random acts of kindness - to customers when it moves her. I don’t usually post about a kindness bestowed to me, but this was so sweet that I couldn’t resist.

Science of kindness: Research shows that kindness has a ripple effect. One act of kindness leads to another, creating a chain reaction. When a person experiences or witnesses kindness, they often feel inspired to pass it on, leading to increased feelings of connection and overall well-being. Julie was doing something nice for me and then Eugenie thought to do something kind as well. This all led to a wonderful conversation, connection and community. Plus, I got the cutest hat! #kindnessmatters #kindness #kindnessiscontagious @10kindnessclub #kronosboutiqueandgallery
