Day 41 of a year of Kindness
Recently the local YMCA that I (try) to attend, put out an email alerting its membership that a member made anti-semitic comments to another member. The email stressed that hate speech is not tolerated. Further, they reiterated that there will be consequences for members who behave in this reprehensible way. This email made me love the YMCA even more. It also compelled me to put on workout clothes and bring them a gift. I wanted to make sure that everyone who walks into the YMCA is reminded to BE KIND. I gave one kindness sign to the front desk. It reads: Apply Relentless Kindness. I left another sign and a thank you note for the director. Since I was already there, I swam some laps. As I was leaving, I saw that they put my kindness sign at the front desk. It’s a tiny sign with a mighty request.
Science of kindness: Science reveals that kindness often takes courage because it means standing up for what is right. One of the first ways to stop hate speech is to raise awareness about it. Genuine kindness requires empathy, intention and commitment. #kindnessmatters #kindness #kindnessiscontagious @10kindnessclub #nottohate
