Day 103 of a year of Kindness

I celebrated my Mother’s 87th birthday today. She has done one of the kindest things a person can do for themselves and the people they love - she got sober. She has been sober for more than 40 years and that decision changed all of our lives for the better. She serves as a role model for so many struggling with addiction. The years of drinking were just a chapter of a much bigger story about how she lived her life in recovery. She gave me permission to share her story. It’s my honor to support people in recovery - it’s the closest thing I’ve seen to a miracle.

Science of kindness: Supporting people in recovery is kind because it provides encouragement and creates a network of support that builds confidence and stability. Depending on your situation, it’s also critical to take care of you before supporting someone in recovery.#kindness #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #bekind #AA #recovery #adultchildrenofalcoholics
