Day 102 of a year of Kindness

For the first time, I posted on Buy Nothing Narragansett. This is a Facebook group (they have them in most cities/towns) where you offer your stuff for free. Earlier in the year (Kindness Day 4) I donated some gloves to someone who posted a need for some. But today, I posted this cute new plush milkshake and four packs of plastic Easter eggs. My cousin (thank you Susan Hinckley) gave me the milkshake, which while adorable, I can’t find a place for in my life (permission given to re-gift). I got these plastic eggs for an Easter Egg hunt that doesn’t need any more. So, I posted my free offerings and they were grabbed up in 11 minutes! I gave the buyer a direct message with my address and tucked all of it in a bag and put it in my driveway. She let me know she got it! This Buy Nothing Group is a total win-win. She has a little girl that is going to love all of it.

Science of kindness: Research shows that when you donate something it promotes a well-being similar to the effects of exercise. Also, when you know you are meeting a need, it creates a sense of connection with others that is linked to better mental health. #kindness #kindnessiscontagious #kindnessisfree #bekind #eastereggs #freestuff
